Assembly
The piano comes flat-packed and is very easy to assemble. The electronics and keyboard are fixed in - all you have to do is
assemble the stand. There are only 4 screws that fix the stand to the keyboard and 4 more to fix the stand together.
Customer comment: “I'm pretty useless at fixing a simple Argos draw together, but thanks to the easy-to-follow instructions
in the box, I didn't have any problem assembling this piano.” Gary, Aldershot.
I do advise two people to do the job though - purely because of the keyboard's weight - It is heavy and safer to have a helping
hand when lifting it on to the stand.

Reviews
Compare the YDP131 with the CLP220
Hi Graham
Many thanks for your detailed and comprehensive review
of pianos and what to think about. I took a pianist
friend and she learnt lots too as we tried out 6 different Kawais and Yamaha's at Allens Music Shop in Sydney (Australia).
The Kawais sounded horrid for the money, really tinny at the top and one was even out of tune (!!).
In the end I decided on the Yamaha Arius YDP131. The next model up was a big step for my budget and
also a bigger piece of kit to have in my little house. My friend liked the sound and reckoned it would
always work as a 'house' piano if my sons ended up on orchestral instruments later, and would get them
far enough on then piano to decide. I stood far away, looking away, as she played different ones, and all
the Yamahas really sounded like pianos. Unlike the Casios which sounded like a keyboard pretending to be a piano.

Questions
Hello, I have a query regarding which digital piano to buy and wonder if you can help.
My 8 year daughter has been learning for a year and her teacher wants her to start working towards exams. To
date she has been using a keyboard, but now we need pedals so we need a piano. We live in a very small house with limited space and most of
the available space for a piano is going to be too near a radiator for an acoustic. We also have a limited budget.
I am considering the Yamaha CLP 220 or the Yamaha YDP 131. The main thing we are after is that the instrument
should feel as much like a piano as possible – so whilst it would be great to get excellent sound quality this is secondary to the feel of
the keyboard and pedals at the moment. Both these models say they have a graded hammer action keyboard, but I was wondering whether
there is a big difference between the YDP 131 and the CLP 220 re the keyboard and pedals? As there is a nearly £200 price difference I
would not want to pay the higher figure if I was paying just for improvement in sound or other technical specifications. Any advice
gratefully received.
Thanks, Linda Skilbeck, Kingston, Surrey
Reply/ Hi Linda
The difference in the sound and touch is only slight.
The main difference is the speaker size, as you will see from the following
comparison.
