Have one that needs repairing? Go here
I have a Winchester WDP-65 and some of the keys are broken I was wondering if you’d be able to help fix it or point me in the right direction.
I am based in the North West of England but I currently can’t find anyone more local to help.
Thanks and fingers crossed.
Reply/ Dear Jessica
We don’t cover your area and I think it would
also be unlikely that it could be fixed.
Winchester pianos went out of production many
years ago, and parts are no longer available for it.
Very sorry for that.
If you would consider a part-exchange, then
please let us know, as we could use some of
the internal parts for future repairs.

Hi Graham – I’m deliberating between a hybrid digital and acoustic baby grand.
What was your honest opinion of the Winchester digital baby grands sold by Dawsons until the stopped making them?
I got one cheap second hand as it’s a nice piece of furniture and something to have at home when I occasionally need it (I have access to lots of nice pianos at work every day).
Kind regards
Brian
Reply/ Hi Brian
The Winchester digital pianos were OK for beginners,
but I really wouldn’t recommend them for anything
much above grade 4 level. This is because the key
action is not responsive enough, and the dynamic
levels are limited.
If you would like a good acoustic grand piano, then we
have a Classenti AG1 just become available.
You can see it here
The Classenti has a lovely, warm piano tone and is
suitable for any level of playing.
We have sold some of them to piano teachers and
performers in the past.
Let me know if you would like to come and see it,
or reserve it.
Kind regards
Graham Howard

“The salesman made the Winchester sound great, especially with the drums. He played a rhythm and recorded it
then played on top. I did think it look a bit cheap though, the digital numbers and buttons along the top
seemed a bit plasticky”.

Winchester WPS1200
“Hi Graham,
I have finally decided and the piano is being delivered on Saturday.
After considering your advice, I decided to stick with the Winchester 1200
at £1049.00. Reasons being the CPL330 was just a bit over my budget;
couldn’t find it under £1250 and more for a black one which is what I really
wanted. I know the colour shouldn’t be a major factor to consider but the
digital will be replacing my beautiful William Sames acoustic (if I ever get
rid of it!) which may no longer be tuneable but still looks wonderful and
personally I think black digital pianos look better than the other colours.
So the colour was one reason, as was the price. Another was that I think the
sound quality of it is pretty good and, compared to the CPL 320, it has more
features. Also I don’t like the ‘desk-like’ stand that the CPL 320 has.
Another reason was the guy in Dawsons was very helpful.
I would have considered a Classenti if I could have played one first. I know
there’s a 60-day return guarantee but I would probably have just kept it.
Also my son is Grade 6 euphonium and was delighted that there was a
reasonable brass voice on the Winchester. He also liked the percussion too
and although I was determined to avoid being sold on gimmicks’, he would be
disappointed not to have them now he’s had a play around with them in the
shop.”

“I started teaching myself the piano about 3 years ago. After practising on a small Yamaha keyboard for 12 months I decided to invest in a digital piano, foolishly I didn’t do any research and headed straight to a Dawson store. The assistant was very helpful and whood me into buying a Winchester WDP60 telling me it would suit my needs for at least 15 years.
I was actually okay with it until I started going to a piano teacher 3 months ago. After experiencing the real thing it’s quite clear the winchester will not see me through to a grade 4 let alone grade 8 because it’s keys are too heavy on the initial press down, they wobble and are noisy, also it’s difficult to control the dynamics.
I’m so nervous about purchasing a new piano as I don’t want to make the same mistake again”
