Customer Reviews:
“Well done Graham for designing a superb service”
After some initial miscommunication, I had a first class Bentley piano delivered to the door by the most friendly company for my daughter’s birthday. She promptly burst into tears when she answered the door as I had told her I had bought her a large canvas painting for her bedroom wall. The service offered by Graham is so astoundingly easy to afford that he made my daughter’s dream come true a year early. She had asked for a piano for her ‘Sweet Sixteen’ a silly American idea…her thought was that she would give me a year to save as she knew pianos are not cheap. But thanks to UK Pianos, it was affordable right now at £38 per month its less than I waste when I nip in my corner shop.
And now I have been sent the name of a good book so I can learn on the sly and hopefully play a tune by Christmas. Well done Graham for designing a superb service,

Questions
“Renting an upright piano, please advise”
Wondering if you could help please
My 92 year old mum for many years was a professional singer and pianist. It’s all she talks about.
We have thought about renting a piano for her but don’t know anything about them. It would need to be an upright but not sure about the different descriptions like weighted keys etc
It would be amazing if we could do this for her with your advice and quote.
Would be a massive thing than just watching TV all day every day.
I do hope you could help and thank you for your time.
Thanks

Hi Gail
We have several upright pianos available at the moment.
I advise getting something with medium-weighted
keys, so it isn’t a struggle for her to play for lengthy
periods of time.
Two pianos in particular I recommend for her are
the Spencer in dark mahogany and the Sanya in light wood.
These are both modern upright pianos that have a
medium-weighted touch and a really nice pure tone.
They are both listed on this page with photos, dimensions
and prices.

“Which piano best suits a 6 year old to learn on?”
I’m wondering if you can help advise please.
I’m looking to rent an upright piano with a view to potentially buy for my daughter to learn the piano on (6 years old) and for me to play for fun (got up to grade 5 but haven’t played for quite a few years).
Do you have any recommendations as to which upright piano would best suit?
Many thanks for your help. I look forward to hearing from you.
Reply/ Dear Ali
We have several upright pianos in at the moment.
In particular I can recommend these two:
The Chappell was made in England and was one of the
most popular pianos in its day.
It has a solid construction, clear tone and even, responsive key feel.
The Spencer is more modern than the Chappell (hence it’s
higher price). It gives a similar performance with a warm tone
and comes in an attractive dark rosewood finish.
Either piano is suitable for your daughter to learn and progress
on right up to grade 8 and would be equally good for you
to get back into playing again.

“Please recommend a decent upright piano with 3 pedals”
Hello, I am looking to rent an upright piano for my daughter who is at level 4 now. The piano we have is no longer suitable for her needs as it is basic and is in need of tlc. She has asked for a 3 pedal instrument. We are looking to rent the piano to include the service of it please.
Many thanks.
Reply/ Hi Donna
There’s two pianos I recommend for your daughter
to learn and progress on: Chappell and Astor.
The Chappell was made in England. It’s a lovely
sounding piano with a crisp, clean tone.
It’s key touch is really sensitive making it
suitable up to the highest level of playing.
You can see it here
The other one is an Astor piano, made in Japan.
Its sound is brighter than the Chappell and
key touch a little heavier.
Again, suitable for up to grade 8 level.
Both pianos have 3 pedals.
Both are available on our Rent to Own programme.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Yours pianistically

“Please recommend a good piano for grade 3 onwards”
I am interested in getting a 2nd hand upright piano for my daughter. She currently uses a digital piano but is keen to move up.
I believe we would be best trialling something through rental first with a view to keeping it if it is the right model and I was wondering what options you currently have available or would recommend?
She is currently only grade 3 but we would hope that we would not need to upgrade any time in the near future.
Thank you for your help,
Reply/ Dear Zoe
We have several pianos available at the moment,
but the ones most suitable for your daughter to
learn and progress on right up to grade 8 level
are the Bentley and both Kemble pianos.
The Bentley has a nicely weighted key feel
with good response. The tone is mellow and pure.
The Kemble is a step up both in tone quality:
sounds more natural and pure. It’s keys are
even more sensitive than the Bentley making
it suitable for grade 7/8 level. With the more
sensitive key feel it makes it easier to play
more demanding, technical pieces as the keys
respond better due to its superior repetition.
I would say that either piano would be good
for her level (grade 3), but she would only
benefit from the Kemble from grade 5 onwards.

Dear Graham,
I came to your shop this week with my daughter to look at some of the rent to buy pianos.
My daughter liked the Legnica piano, although you did mention it needed some retuning I think?
I wanted to check with you some of the details for the piano and the rental agreement. Can you confirm for me all the costs for the rental scheme.
The piano is listed for £42 a month which is inclusive of VAT? Also there is a delivery charge which I wanted to check and is there any other deposit? There is a minimum rental of 1 year – if we decided not to keep the piano we would not pay anything after that?
It was my understanding that then any monthly rental would come off the price of the piano if we buy it during the 12 moths rental. Am I also correct in saying that if we wanted to upgrade to a different piano within your collection we could put the money paid so far towards a more expensive piano?
The piano also comes with a 5year guarantee and I wanted to check what is included within that guarantee?
Thank you for your help,
Hi Zoe
Yes, £42 per month includes VAT.
Delivery is £185 to the ground floor.
The deposit is £319.
This is a security deposit and is refunded to you
at the end of the rental.
If you decide not to keep the piano after 1 year,
then there is nothing more to pay.
The return delivery charge is taken from the deposit.
12 month’s rental payments count towards the price.
You can also use this towards a higher priced piano.
The 5-year guarantee covers all parts and labour.

“Can you recommend an upright or silent upright piano?”
We have just returned from abroad and are looking to rent a piano as soon as possible , that we then buy in a year.
My daughter is grade 4 and plays everyday , I think she will definitely go on with it and I play to a good level when I can !
I have just moved to a little, terraced house and was wondering about the quality of a Broadway . Is it an actual piano or a digital one? Or a mix ? Sorry I have googled it but I can’t really see anything definitive .
I think it’s really important it has the feel and weighting of a proper piano . But I don’t want to entirely alienate the neighbours.
It doesn’t have to be a silent piano I get but it would fit in with the colour scheme if it was white, but I’m not buying a piano just for its colour !!
Could you recommend ?
Many thanks for all your help ,
Amy
Reply/ Hi Amy
We do have an ex-display Broadway silent piano in white.
This is a real piano with an electronic silent system added to it.
So it feels and sounds exactly like a real piano with or without
the silent feature. The best of both worlds!
I have attached some photos.
The price is £3,995.
Rent to Buy is £95 per month.
Warranty is 5 years covering all parts and labour.
The Broadway BU-109T has a full, resonant, warm tone.
Its sound is crisp and clear.
The Broadway’s key touch is responsive. So it’s a good
piano for your daughter to learn and progress on, and suitable
for more advanced playing (up to grade 8).
Kind regards

I’m interested in renting a Yamaha upright piano in black polished ebony.
Do you have any Yamaha black polished ebony upright pianos for rent?
How much is the rental charge?
Is there a minimum rental period.
Other piano rental sites say you have to pay 6 months rental plus the delivery free all upfront before the piano gets delivered.
Do you just pay the first monthly pay and the delivery charge then the piano gets delivered?
Please let me know. I would love to rent a upright piano.
Thank you.
Reply/ Dear Ravinder
We don’t have any Yamaha pianos available at the moment,
but we do have two other really good pianos in polished ebony:
Kaiser (made in Japan)
Classent UP112.
The Classenti has a beautiful, warm tone to it.
The Kaiser excels in its superior responsive key touch.
Both pianos are suitable for any level of playing.
We do require a 20% security deposit (of the vale of the piano).
You get this back at the end of the rental.
Let me know if you would like try them in our Enfield shop.

Dear Graham
Having looked at your very informative website (thank you), we are enquiring as to the current availability of upright pianos on the rent to buy scheme.
We are looking for a second hand piano (for cost reasons) that will serve my daughter and myself as we are both starting lessons. We would like a piano that we won’t have to replace (should my daughter make her way up to grade 8) but are keen not to spend a fortune. We would aim to buy the piano at the end of the 12 month rental period. Dimensions aren’t an issue. It would be also useful to know the potential resale value for the piano in years to come.
Our postcode is LE15 8PA (109 miles from central London) and delivery would be to the ground floor (no steps).
It would be great if you could give us some recommendations from your currently available pianos, along with pricing details (delivery, deposit, monthly payments etc).
Kindest regards
Reply/ Hi Coralie
I would say that either the Baldwin or Weber pianos
are suitable for you and your daughter to learn and progress on.
These pianos are both good enough to take you up to grade 8 level.
The Baldwin is made in America and was one of the
most popular pianos when it was made.
It is in very good condition.
The key action feels responsive and the tone quality
is not too bright.
The Weber is a more modern piano in a gloss white finish.
It has a nice, bright tone and a solid, responsive key feel
It is also in very good condition.
Delivery is £185.
Deposit is 20% of the piano’s price.
The potential resale value is usually about half of
the current price, assuming it is in good condition.
Let me know if you would like to reserve either of these.

Dear Graham,
Looked at your website for the piano rental costs. It says range from £35 to £249 per month. I would like to find out bit more.
Just so you know we already have Kawai and an old Obermeir at home. Unfortunately, Obermeir is really well past its use by date and even a tuner doesn’t come anymore:) My son is playing regularly on Kawai and we are not looking digital hire. Acoustic or dare I say baby grand is the dream!
So now I am looking into Rent-To-Own. Could you please send me what you have available at the moment. We live in South West London so not easy to pop in to your premises. A short list with prices will be a great start.
Thank you so much for your time and look forward to hearing from you
Reply/ Dear Mediha
The Baldwin and the Sanya are both really nice pianos
to play…
The Baldwin is made in America. It has a clean sound
and excellent key repetition.
The Sanya ha a warmer, more mellow sonorous tone.
It is also a responsive key action suitable for any level of playing.
Please let me know if you would like to reserve either of those
or have any questions.

We are looking at buying a Yamaha B1 as recommended by my son’s piano teacher. Could we have some more information about the rent to own scheme please?
Kind Regards
Reply/ Dear Shannon
We don’t have any Yamaha B1 pianos at the moment.
But we do have some similar second hand ones.
In particular the Schaefer and the Kemble.
The Kemble is the nicer of the two.
And it was made by Yamaha in their Milton Keynes factory.
Let me know if you would like to reserve either of these,
or have any questions.
You are welcome to come and see them in our Enfield store.
Kind regards

“I am looking for a piano to get back in to playing”
I learned to play up to Grade 3 when I was around 10 years old but will really need to re-learn!
I’m looking for an acoustic upright piano (ideally a light wood but colour is not a deal-breaker). I’m not 100% on what would be best suited to me – I am limited to a 135cm space to fill so I am aware this limits the market to an extent.
Ideally don’t want to be paying any more than £75 per month but again would be happy to look at more expensive options if necessary.
Delivery would be to a 1st floor bedroom in Staffordshire.
Thank you in advance.
Reply/ Dear Annie
We have two pianos I would like to recommend for you:
Zender and Kemble.
Both pianos are under 135cm in width.
The Zender is about 40 years old and in excellent condition.
It has a nice, responsive key action and a crisp tone.
It is suitable for up to grade 8 level.
This piano was made in London.
Price is £1795 and £45 per month.
The Kemble, also an English-made piano is a step up
in quality both in sound and key touch over the Zender.
It is more of a professional piano suitable for any level
of playing.
This piano is also in top condition.
Price is £2495 and £60 per month.

We are looking to hire an upright Yamaha piano for our 7 year old daughter who has just started piano lessons.
Could you please let me know if you have any starter pianos available please, and the rental and delivery costs? We are based in Northwood
Thanks
Reply/ Dear Swati
We don’t have any Yamaha pianos, but we do have
some very similar ones.
There are two Kemble pianos available; these were
both made by Yamaha in their Milton Keynes factory
and are essentially the same as a Yamaha but with
different hammers. Kemble pianos have a warmer,
more mellow tone than Yamahas.
We also have a German Offenbach, which is a really
lovely piano to play. It has a clear, warm tone and
responsive key touch making it suitable for learning
and progressing up to a high level of playing.
There is also the Calisia piano, made in Poland.
This has a brighter tone than the Offenbach and
Kembles but is equally good to learn on.

“I need a compact upright piano for my daughter to learn”
Dear Team,
I am looking for a piano for my 11 year old daughter – she has been practising on an electric keyboard in her room.
I am looking for compact – width not more than 145 cm. I may even try to learn myself. I would love to buy but cannot afford at this stage and I don’t know much about – although I have been reading up a little bit.
We live in Northampton. Ideally I would love to surprise her for Christmas.
I look forward to any ideas advice – recommendations you may have.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Reply/ Hi Sonia
That’s OK.
We have several upright pianos all within your measurements.
In particular I recommend any of the Barratt & Robinson pianos.
These have a nice, medium weighted responsive key feel
and a nice tone.
They’re suitable for learning up to grade 8 level.
The Kemble piano is also nice. This is a step up from
the Barratt & Robinson pianos both in tone quality
(sounds a little purer), and key feel (slightly heavier
and firmer feel).
Let me know if you’d like to reserve any of these
or have any questions.

We can organise this over the telephone.

Classenti upright piano.
The Classenti has a slightly fuller sound due to
its longer strings.
Key feel wise they both have a superb mechanism
with fast repetition.
Both pianos are suitable for any level of playing.
Fazer is £75 per month.

“I need an upright piano for my child to learn on”
Hi Graham
Considering renting a second hand piano for child just starting out taking lessons. Looking for one that will support his progression over the next 12 months minimum. Dimension depth max 50-55cm length less of an issue.
Could you indicate some possibilities I am local to showroom so could pop in after work if some selections are not available on site or can review photos. Looking at budget of around £35 per month but willing to increase initial rental payment to reduce monthly rental cost.
Reply/ Hi Clive
We have several pianos available that fit your criteria.
Two I recommend for you are the Knight and the Kemble.
These both fit your depth dimensions.
The Knight is a good learner’s piano.
It’s a famous, British made piano of good, sturdy quality –
often used in schools because of this.
It has a warm piano tone and nice feel to the keys.
The rental is £45 per month.
The Kemble is a step up from the Knight both in tone
quality and key feel. The key touch is even more
responsive making it suitable for any level of playing ability.
It is £65 per month.
The Kemble has recently been reduced in price by £500
due to a temperamental practice pedal.
The practice pedal is an additional pedal (not normally
found on older pianos). It muffles the sound so you
can play very softly and not disturb neighbours.
You can see both pianos on this page
We are open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Please let me know if you would like to pop in, so
I can be here to help you.
Or let us know if you would like to reserve either of these.
We can do the rental over the phone if it’s more convenient
for you.

“Any recommendation for an advanced pianist”
Hello there,
I am interested in renting a piano for 12 months. I live on a ground floor (mews house) in Earl’s Court SW5 0RR. I would like to spend as little as possible but I am an advanced pianist. Any recommendation?
Thanks a lot,
Sebastian
Reply/ Dear Sebastian
There are 2 pianos I would like to recommend for you:
Kemble
Price £2,495
Rental £60 per month
Ibach
Price £2,495
Rental £60 per month
Both these pianos have a responsive key touch
and a nice tone. Suitable for any level of playing.
If anything, I would go for the Ibach purely on
sound quality. This piano is taller, has longer
strings and a deeper, warmer tone.

Hello Graham,
My wife and I want to acquire a beginners piano to learn to play.
I have read your buyer’s guide which was really helpful.
Since it is our first piano we agreed that a rent/rent-to-buy is the best option for us, as a trial.
I wonder if you could help us decided on the following:
Digital or upright piano (we live in a flat in London with carpet floor)? And options for both.
Available ones in your store, using the brand rating from your book?
What extra parts would you recommend (adjustable stool, headphones, etc)?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Reply/ Hi Rui
If your flat is on the ground floor then I recommend
going for a real, upright piano.
It is always best to learn on a real piano as it gives
you a natural sound and key feel.
We have several available at the moment.
I recommend getting an adjustable height piano stool.
This adjusts so you can be at the correct height.
Let me know if you would like to reserve any of these.

Dear Sirs
We are looking to rent an upright piano. I am a beginner, and will probably end up buying the piano.
Please can you advise if you have any Yamaha pianos in stock to rent?
Thank you.
Reply/ Hi Fahreen
We don’t rent Yamaha pianos.
Sorry for that.
However, we do have a range of second hand
upright pianos for rental.
If you prefer a brand new piano then we have
the Broadway BU-109 available on rent to buy.
This is similar in sound and feel to the Yamaha B2.
Let me know if you would like more information.

“Which upright piano do you recommend for my daughter?”
Hi Graham
I have been online looking at your website and I’m keen on the Rent to Buy scheme that you operate.
My daughter is 12 and has been learning piano for nearly 2 years. She is scheduled to sit her Grade 3
exam in Jan/Feb and currently has a low end digital piano which doesn’t really support dynamics.
As you know, this is an important part of piano playing and will effect her ability to progress more
and more as she moves on from Grade 3. My husband and I would love to get her an acoustic piano as I
believe this would be better for her to move forward with. We are self employed but surviving during
the situation we find ourselves in but we definitely couldn’t afford to buy one outright at this point in time.
I would hate for this to hold her back any, as she really is committed to her learning.
I noticed on your website it said you had more second hand pianos and to contact for more photos, prices
and a breakdown of the rent to buy, If possible. I’m also looking for what you would recommend for her as
I’m looking for something to see her through to Grade 8 at least; something with a bit of longevity and
that copes well with dynamics etc We are based in Scotland, please let me know if this poses a problem.
Kind Regards.
Reply/ Hi Donna
The range of acoustic pianos available on
Rent to Buy is up-to-date on this page.
For a good upright piano that’s suitable for
your daughter to learn and progress on up
to the higher levels, without needing to upgrade,
I recommend for you either the Kemble or
Broadway upright pianos.
The Kemble has a crisp tone and good key action.
It’s suitable for any level of playing.
It’s mahogany in colour.
The price is £2,499 and rental is £60 per month.
The Broadway has a warm tone and nice feel
to the keys. It also is suitable for any level of playing.
It’s in a polished black colour.
The price is £2,995 and rental is £75 per month.
We can deliver to Scotland.
Delivery is £185 to the ground floor.
Let me know if you would like to reserve
either of these pianos.
Yours pianistically
