The GEWA UP540 is a high-quality digital piano designed to offer the sound and feel of an acoustic piano, together with the practical benefits of a modern digital instrument. It is suitable for beginners, more advanced pianists and anyone looking for a realistic piano-playing experience at home.

The UP540 has an 88-note Ivory Touch Pro keyboard with weighted hammer action and ivory-feel key surfaces. The keyboard responds to changes in touch, allowing the player to control the volume and tone in much the same way as an acoustic piano. There is also a calibration feature that allows the keyboard response to be adjusted to suit individual playing preferences.

The main piano sound is sampled from a Steinway D-274 concert grand piano, using over 1 GB of sample memory. This gives the UP540 a detailed and natural piano tone, with plenty of variation between soft and loud playing. The piano also has 256-note polyphony, which allows complex pieces to be played without notes cutting off prematurely.

The built-in speaker system has two 30-watt amplifiers, providing a total output of 60 watts. There are also 41 instrument sounds to choose from, along with various reverb and modulation effects. The Virtual Piano Technician feature allows further adjustments to the piano sound, including string resonance, hammer characteristics and pedal response.

For anyone wanting to use the piano with other devices, the UP540 includes Bluetooth audio and MIDI, USB connections and standard MIDI In, Out and Thru sockets. Performances can also be recorded in MIDI or WAV format using a USB storage device. The GEWA Piano Remote App provides another way to access and adjust the piano’s settings from a compatible smartphone or tablet.

Other useful features include a built-in metronome, lesson functions, split and layer modes, and two headphone sockets for private practice.

The UP540 is housed in a traditional-style cabinet finished in matt black, complete with a sliding keyboard cover and three pedals.
