Digital Piano Bible – 7 Things You Must Know

12th June 2017 By Graham Howard 7 Comments

Hi Graham

Thanks a lot for your piano-”bible”.

We had tuned in to a Yamaha CLP-320 and read your column which showed that
was a good choice.

My daughter – 16 years old – is starting (again) to learn the piano – great
with your summary – appreciate that a lot – we are lucky not having
earthquakes – I gave a coin to Unicef yesterday – to help in Haiti. It puts
our search for skills in music in perspective – when people other where do
not have water and food.

Take care, Astrid

Hi Graham Howard,

Thanks for your e-mail.

I received your book and think it is really helpfull in getting things clear about buying a digital piano.
As we are living in The Netherlands and not able to find the information you are providing to us, we are
very happy we found your site, full of information.

Thank you very much,

Frank

Thank you for sending your book. I feel much more informed and feel I am now able to make the choice that is best for me and my piano needs.

My daughter is now begining to study piano, till now she used my old orquestra synt roland jv 30, but it is broken, and I need to buy a new one.

Hello,

Thank you for your most useful book and website. It was one of the best
resources among a few I used before buying a digital piano. I bought Yamaha
YDP160 and quite satisfied with it.

Thanks again,

Nat

Thank you Graham, your book is fabulous!
Thanks for sharing!

Andy

Thank you very much for your book. I found it extremely beneficial. I may be buying a digital piano later this year so it will prove very useful.

Thanks

Geoff

Dear Graham

Many thanks for your help – your guide to buying is extremely user friendly and informative; it is also a valuable selfless act, so thank you. I haven’t yet purchased a piano – I will do so – for my son who I wish to encourage to learn. I am sure questions will soon emerge, and when they do, I may indeed ask for your advice etc.

Thanks again. Stay well

Bob

Thankyou, the book was really helpful and told me everything i need to know. I won’t be making a decision for several months as i need to raise the necessary funds. Thankyou for your help.

Janet

Hello – thanks for the information. It will come in handily when we purchase the digital piano.
You’ve certainly done a great deal of research!

Hi Graham

Just a short note to say thanks for your advice re digital pianos. I
read your “7 things you must know” book and your advice was excellent –
very comprehensive and straightforward. I am leaning towards a Yamaha
Clavinova, I’m going to try out a few models over the weekend. I live
in Sydney, Australia and fortunately there is a number of approved
Yamaha dealers here. Just a pity they don’t advertise their prices
online so one would have a better understanding of the difference in
price between the entry level and higher end models. Hopefully there
will be opportunity for negotiation (as with most purchases in
Australia).

Thanks again, your advice was greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Jamie

Hello Graham,

The book has unlocked the mystery that is Digital Pianos. Thanks you so much.

Tony Gleeson

Graham,

Thank you. What a fantastic resource your book is, so comprehensive (and free!)

Chris

Hi Graham,

Thank you for the book, it helped me a lot, I am the proud owner of a Clavinova Yamaha
320!I am a violinist so it has been really difficult to choose a piano.I’ve bought it for
my mother that is a former piano teacher, for Christmas, and she was very pleased with it.
She used to play on a very good acoustic grand piano but unfortunately she had to sell it
before moving to Portugal(from Romania).

Cristina Pereira

Thank you Graham
Your comment and book are very important
This is very very good

Dear Graham,
Thank you very much for your book. It was very helpful and i would
definitely recommend it to anybody who is looking for a digital piano.
After some research and evaluation I have purchased Roland HP207. So far I
am really happy with the instrument.

Thank you very much for your book.

Best regards,

Alex

Hi Graham

It printed easily on my cheap laser printer!
We used to have an old but much lover baby grand and have recently
downsized a smaller house. My wife is beginning to think about a digital piano and
your book is a great starting point.

Many thanks for making it available.

Yours sincerely

Peter Dyson

Hi Graham

Thank you so much for your book, it helped me out alot.
I went to my local piano store (Dawsons) and tried out their pianos and have decided to buy
a Yamaha CLP330 (in rosewood). I am especially pleased that this is also high on
your recommened list!

I have been scanning the internet trying to find the best deal, and these two websites both have it:

RockingRooster and Imusician

I have never heard of them so am a little wary.

Many Thanks for your help
Anna

Hi Graham,

An excellent book that is believable and trustworthy.
Very helpful.

Graham Howard,

Thank you for providing your excellent Digital Piano buying guide. It was very useful in facilitating the decision-making process. In performing Internet research elsewhere, I had nearly concluded that a Yamaha digital piano would be the best option in my price range; however, I now understand that the Casio PX130 or CDP200 will actually be better options. Eventually, the family plans to move to using a true acoustic piano; therefore, the Casio option appears to be the best training choice. Thank you again.

Will

Hi Graham,

I downloaded your book “7 Things You Must Know Before Buying A Digital Piano
back in January and was very impressed with the amount of information given
in a free download, so firstly I must thank you for that.

Steve

Thanks for nothing. It sounds like you’re not really a fan of music – just a piano snob!

Roland Zilz

Graham,

I can’t imagine how many people you must help, thank you very much. I very much look
forward to reading this.

As it’s nearly 1am I shall stick with the email in the hope that you aren’t currently
on-line

Kind regards
Max

Hi Graham,

Congratulations on your “7 things” book, very elucidative and thorough. Thanks for making it available.

Hi Graham,

Thanks for sending me a great guide for buying a digital piano. I decide
to buy clavinova clp320, I hope not make a mistake with that choice. Sorry
for my bad english, best regards from Croatia!

Luka

You book is amazing–so well organized and full of valuable information! I
truly appreciate your work and I am sure when the other members have a
chance to read it and discuss it–our decision will be much easier to make.

Connie

Thank you for the information you have collected in the book you sent me, it
has helped me a lot and has saved me a lot of time.

Alice

Congratulations for your excellent book that is a marvellous light in the
digital pianos nightmare (specailly for new in this world parents like me)

Mary

Dear Graham

I read your wonderful article on how to go about buying a digital piano.
It was immensely helpful. I got answers to all my questions. So thanks a
ton for that. Was confused about the CLP 320 versus YDP 160. Now I’ll go
for CLP 320.

Cheers,

Dear Graham,

Thank you very much for making your book available online, and free of
charge! I’m delighted that a “piano-dummy” such as I am able to get some
good advice, before I try to buy a digital piano for my wife for her birthday.

I had piano lessons as a 10 year old,I then turned to football so gave the lessons up.
I am now in my late 80 s and using a 61 key keyboard to learn again.
I am not quite happy with the piano sound on the keyboard, so I am looking to buy a digital piano around the 4 to 500 mark, it looks like your advice is for me.
    thank you, Harry.
